Afghanistan

I’m Sultana Amani from Kabul Afghanistan. I’m 19 years old and i would like to join with global peace chain. Afghanistan has gone through so many hurdles and obstacles for almost four decades of everlasting violence and unremitting conflict, despite internal conflicts that deteriorated the country throughout the history of instability and anarchism, external intervention has also played a major role in instability in which Afghanistan has been suffering from so many difficulties major difficulties such as, insecurity, corruption, and injustice. Through the passage of time, the conflicts have been remained unresolved and Afghans are still facing challenges which are threatening peace and stability in the country. For lessening and eradication of the conflicts, we need to promote peace through awareness campaigns by use of peaceful means of communication among people in local community to empower youth to enhance peace individually and in groups. I grew up in a society where my uncle was a peace activist, who used to promote peace through local gatherings within community elders and youths, I spent most of my time with my uncle while he was presenting his speech regarding peace and its value to the audience in order to come up with a solution to overcome conflicts in community. I have observed the peace activism events led by elders, and I learned so many things which enabled me to be a volunteer member of promoting peace in the community. I learned how peaceful outcomes can be achieved in conflict systems, and how we can deal with the current and future violent conflicts more constructively. As a peace activist, I have tried to encourage people to change their behaviors. I have promoted peace among youth, organizing them in district groups, and strengthened their capacity in peace building and conflict resolution. I launched community based campaigns to promote peace, tolerance, and the right to thought and freedom of expression in our communities. I would like to give an example of my activities as a peace activist that I am working with British Council since my early school days and connecting the high schools students with students outside the country to broaden their knowledge and experience about diverse educational subjects. I also worked with hundreds of girls students in Kabul the capital of Afghanistan high schools as a leading factor and opened opportunity that they interact in worldwide stage with highly professional educators. I have organized training on skills for peace building, conflict transformation, non-violence and pluralism. The training strengthen the knowledge of students and youth about the origin, current status, dynamics, and politics of extremist groups, also it promoted peace activism, enabled the participants to respond effectively to emerging conflicts in their communities. It also developed the notion among youth that they have the responsibility to build peace in their communities by playing an effective and active role. I have called on the participants that each trained person has the responsibility to work with at least 10 other youths in their local communities to educate them on non-violence conflict resolution, pluralism, and tolerance of others believes and thoughts. I always still ask my uncle to help me and learned so many things from him down the years or till present days.
