“I am a 26-year-old Investment Banker working at Goldman Sachs. My friends and colleagues often describe me as someone who is a determined team player, a purposeful planner, and a good communicator – have also been awarded for these strengths, my academic achievements & management skills by my alma mater(s) and employer. I strongly live by my favorite quote from the Harry Potter series “It matters not what someone is born, but what they grow to be”
Having been born and raised in a middle-class family in India – I grew up in a society where discrimination on the lines of economic soundness, gender, religion was a common practice. The discriminated struggle a lot – sometimes even to avail basic human rights.
This disparity always bothered me, and thus far in my life, I have worked for causes like equality for women, education for all, better sanitation, and employment facilities in the underdeveloped regions, since school days as I led the youth wing of the Rotary International, for 4 years.
I continued to work for causes that moved me at college and was able to organize marathons spreading awareness about the same. I also interned at a non-profit organization that aimed at uplifting tribal artisans, facilitating economic benefits deserved by them.
Joining a full-time job right after college – gave me less time in hand but tried my best to captain annually for a Community Teamwork project covering various aspects related to social causes.
To conclude, I am an ordinary girl who wants to make this world a peaceful and equal platform for all. I am a girl with a plan and a purpose and I believe that no one is born extra-ordinary – your purpose and plan of action is what makes you extraordinary and transform the world around you!”
