My name is Said Ahmad Sadaat, and I am 16 years old.  It was on  a hot summer day when I first opened my eyes to this world in a village of Kama, Nangarhar, Afghanistan. At that time my father was a farmer who was the sole provider for his 5 siblings,  mother, wife and 4 children. I grew up in this small village, in my father’s farming fields.

At the age of six  I insisted on attending school. In the beginning my family refused to enroll me in the school since they believed I was too young to walk so far to school every day. Finally, they relented and I was enrolled in school. The motive behind my enthusiasm for school was my uncle, who was always praised for being able to attend the university for his bachelor degree in that time of war and poverty.

When I finished a portion of my elementary studies in the village, my father established a shop along with his cousin in the city. Therefore, we moved to the city.

In 8th grade at Al Taqwa High School, I had the opportunity to attend public speaking programs as a public speaker. Recently, I participated in a public speaking program which had over 2000 people in the  audience.  Then, when I was in grade 9th, I started simultaneously  attending a year long program at an English institute . Recently, I was awarded  outstanding for my 10th grade  midterm examinations. I take great pride at being one of the top students in my class.

Finally, almost a month ago, I attended a virtual summer camp called “Camp Afghanistan”. It was an opportunity which enabled me to learn about setting goals, community building and community projects, public speaking, and about studying abroad.
