“Hello, I am Dr Rithima Anvar. I have completed my MBBS and a post-graduate degree in Community Medicine and Public Health from Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kerala, India. Now I am currently working as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Community Medicine and Public Health at Travancore Medical College, Kerala, India.

My professional role is that of a Public Health doctor requires protecting community health and well-being through preventive programs, education and research. Being professionals who work in this field, my responsibilities include identifying and addressing current and emerging public health issues, such as cigarette smoking, HIV/AIDS, infectious diseases and addressing issues in marginalized communities such as tribals and other backward communities.

My thesis was based on the Nutritional status assessment of community-dwelling older adults in Ernakulam district. The research gave an insight into the living standards and nutritional status of the elderly population and it allowed me to organize community-based rehabilitation activities such as recreational activities focusing on elderly population. It further improved my communication skills and also my interest in fieldwork. Additionally, I had the opportunity to work for Kurichi, Kurva and Pania tribals in Banasura Hills, Wayanad, Kerala, India. The magnitude of sex exploitation among tribal females was shocking. I was able to create awareness sessions among tribals and also with the involvement of government functionaries and NGO’s, there is a reduction in the number of cases.

I also had the opportunity to organize three international conferences which included speakers and delegates from all over the world. I demonstrated strong leadership quality to organize the conference, record minutes during our meetings, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing to our groupmates the necessary information.

I am looking forward to being a part of the Global World Peace Summit.”
