Sri Lanka

I live in Eravur in Batticaloa District in the Eastern Province in Sri Lanka.

We 10 % of Muslim live as a minority community in SriLanka. Yet 70 % Hindus live as the Majority community in my District. Under this circumstance I have been highly engaging in youth development and social service welfare activities with Great interest and dedication since 2000.
I have got my degree successfully at the reputed Eastern University of Srilanka and Thereafter I have completed my Master Degree (MA) in Public Administration and I have been following a Diploma course on Counselling at the National Institute of Social Development.
As I am very much interested in Youth service and development activities I have been giving my greates contribution since 2000 in the youth club activities which functions under the National Youth Services Council under the Government of Sri Lanka.
I joined as a member of Youth club in 2000, in recognition of my noble and sincere service rendered to the president of the youth club then I was elected as the Batticaloa District Organizer of the Youth club and thereafter I was elected as Chairman of International Affairs of National Youth Service Council of Srilanka. During this period I have tremendously and honestly discharged my duties and responsibilities with the utmost satisfaction of the youths and superiors.
I have the honor to highlight you here that I have got adequate experience from the grassroots level in the youth development and I have encountered a lots of challenges in achieving my goals and giving a good leadership to the youths by the srilankan government being rendered noble and relentless service to the youth and the country.
I was given an opportunity to participate as a representative of Srilanka in the second SAARC Youth Conference held in Srilanka in 2008. 10 delegates form srilanka participated in the conference out of 10 I was only one participated from the minority community. As I actively contributed and fared well in the conference I was the only one out of the 10 delegates who participated in the conference, chosen by the government to participate as a representative of Srilanka in Regional Conference of Common Wealth Organization in the same month held in India.
After that I highly inclined in many Youth development Programme conducted in Srilanka. Moreover I would like to mention here that, World Conference on Youth was held in Srilanka in 2014.

Under the leadership of Youth Affairs Minister along with a delegates visited to United Nation Organization Which is in New York in America to conduct a side event, elected as a delegate to this Programme. Through these types of Programme I have got many experiences in Nationally and Internationally.
You are well aware that there was a war in Srilanka, Due to that war my district was severely affected by terrorist activities. My family badly affected by the terrorist. I had to lose over 10 family members, they were abducted and killed by the Terrorists and family was displaced and was living under poverty line.
As far as Muslims of Srilanka are concerned they have always been loyal and supportive of the government due to the minority of the Muslims were highly affected by the LTTE movement in Sri Lanka .Further well aware that there was a bitter and undesirable incident happened in Srilanka in April 2019. It was the Easter Sunday Attack due to this there has been misunderstanding on Srilanka Muslims within the country. As a result of this we fear that we may be isolated from the International Community.
Hence I Personally feel that, I am given an opportunity to participate in this conference I hope I will be able to bring out and highlight the problems of Muslims of Srilanka and it will be useful and helpful to build a good bond with International Community.
