Ishika Millaniyage specializes in youth leadership and community peacebuilding. She holds a post graduate diploma in Peace and Conflict studies from University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, and is currently pursuing her second BSc. degree in the Psychology stream. She’s a Beyond Borders – Scotland: Women in Conflict 1325 fellowship recipient in 2020, and is also a US Department of State Alumnus; a Community Solutions – Tolerance and Conflict resolution Fellow 2015 and has worked with “Little Friends For Peace (LFFP)” on peace education curriculum development and facilitating peace building and conflict resolution training. She has served on the first Community Solutions Alumni Board from 2016 – 2018, and has also served as a Community Solutions Program Selection Panelist for two consecutive cohorts – 2020, 2021. She’s a member of Sri Lanka Unites (SLU) Youth movement since 2012 and has been a mentor for SLU – Future Leaders’ Conferences. She has also served as a trainer of the SLU Reconciliation Centre in Kamburupitiya, Sri Lanka. Ishika is an Active Citizen of British Council – Sri Lanka, and has served the Brunei High Commission as a Youth Ambassador during Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) 2013. During her career as a program coordinator with Sarvodaya, Sri Lanka’s largest civil society movement, Ishika has facilitated a learning journey program for a group of Palestinian Refugees along with several other International projects and has represented Sarvodaya at National Reconciliation Policy drafting consultations and National Transitional Justice taskforce consultations. Currently she is attached to the Australian government aided – Skills for Inclusive Growth Program in Sri Lanka and works towards promoting skills development of small and medium enterprises and local entrepreneurs. Prior to this she was managing Australia Awards-Afghanistan program, overlooking the coordination of program activities between Australia, Afghanistan and India, and also substantially contributed to the Australia Awards-India program PR and recruitment activities.
