Megi Malaj

Albania

My name is Megi, I am 21 years old, I was born and raised in Tirana and that is also the city where I live.
I am a fresh graduate in Banking and Finance from Epoka University and I have just been enrolled in a Master Program on Accounting and Auditing at Canadian Institute of Technology. I am really looking forward to building my career as an Accountant in the near future and that is why I have studied hard and I am preparing myself to work even harder. I always wanted to be somebody and I always aimed the top. When you live in a small country like Albania you have a lot of barriers starting from the mentality, standard of living etc so for ambitious people like me if you do not have strong will and an ‘iron’ character( this is what we say here) you can not really survive. I have always tried to have connections because when you know people that know people you allow yourself to have new opportunities and that is why I always got involved in social groups. I have always been a youth activism fan,as for myself I have been part of my school social clubs,I have attended almost every social meeting and conferences in my university and many social fairs held by cultural organizations in Tirana and foreign ones. I am part of Pink Movement Albania that is a movement on woman rights and also a volunteer of Red Cross Albania. Last summer I should’ve been in America because I was admitted in a Cultural Exchange Program held by Interexchange but unfortunately it got suspended due to pandemic of Covid 19.
I am a very social person, I like to spend time with friends, meet new people and do things that give me pleasure. What I enjoy the most is my Taekwondo class. I have been an athlete for over 7 years now and I am part of Albanian National Taekwondo Team and also a full time athlete at Tirana Taekwondo sports Team. It has helped me a lot figure many things out for myself, it was a way for me to take my anger out when life became tough and even building a strong discipline. Competitions outside Albania made me travel a lot and meet a lot of people most of them are my virtual friends now. When you face different kinds of people you get better at understanding other cultures and understanding some things about the complexity of life out and about. That is what I enjoyed doing throughout these years, getting to know myself through knowing and exploring other people’s mindset.
I really enjoy spending time with people who have something to bring to the table and people who always inspire and motivate you to become the best version of yourself. My mom was my first idol, I have learned that to be a woman is a privilege and I wish more people knew their worth and their mission in this life. I am really trying to affirm myself in the best way possible, I am aspiring to become a role model for myself, my family and even my country. The best is yet to come !
