Marie Madeline Mendy has a profound interest in social affairs and development, especially in peace, security and conflict resolution. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Politics and International Relations from Lancaster University (Ghana). She is enthusiastic about volunteering and engagement in extracurricular activities. She was a member of the Politics and Debate society at Lancaster University Ghana. She also undertook some online professional development courses in Peacebuilding, Conflict Analysis and International Humanitarian Law.

She is currently working as an intern at West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI) in the Capacity Development Unit. One of her highlights working for WACSI includes experience capacity building, administrative support for project management, institutional development for national and civil society organisations, and the practical promotion of democratic and human rights values in the West African sub-region.

As a highly ambitious person, Marie is passionate about service to humanity for peaceful coexistence, progress and prosperity for society. She is currently working on a project that sought to address the lacking role of women and youth in peacebuilding and security– “Transformation and Restoration for Peace”. Marie believes that the solution to the vulnerability of youth and women in conflict is to get engaged in peacebuilding processes and access to resilience development schemes. To her, identifying the problems to achieving local, regional and global peace calls for collaborative action, where peace advocates can push for dynamic change to maintain sustainability for a more peaceful world.

Her hobbies include research, culinary activities, interior decoration, travelling and sightseeing to broaden her diverse knowledge to different cultures. She is also an entrepreneur and runs a small-scale interior décor business ‘Lozana Home Impressions’.

Marie aspires to become a remarkable consultant in international peace, conflict resolution and security and a successful entrepreneur in the nearest future.
