“I am a 19 year-old student from Kazakhstan, Aktobe city. My score in IELTS is 7.5 and 1350 in SAT Reasoning. Currently I am a first-year student of one of the top universities of Turkey – Istanbul Technical University in the faculty of Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering. As a future petroleum engineer, I comprehend how much it is extremely important to get engaged with producing the energy resources simultaneously taking the main goals of Sustainable development into account. The foremost point we are seeking to achieve is to maximise our engagements’s efficiency and minimise the detrimental effects of that to the environment. I have begun my university path just recently, however, there are worth-mentioning cases from school life I would like to share with Global Peace Summit committee.
Since I became a high school student, I have become highly passionate in solving globally significant problems: poverty, gender inequalities, water and air contamination, political conflicts. Thanks to the opportunities provided by my school, I was able to initiate the TEDx club and MUN, where the young like-minded leaders gather expressing their honest opinions, sharing the most effective approaches to solve the occurring issues. As one of the legendary leaders of all time, M. Luther King Jr., said: “Think globally, act locally”. This is the main credo we are keeping in order to make a favourable contribution to the environment and surrounding. Having gained the approval of the school administration, the Student Council, we have initiated, attained fruitful results within 3-4 years. Our team, consisting of motivated and aspiring students, could raise the wind for the surgery of the student, whose family could not afford. Owing to unity and effective coalition, we achieved our goal. The next important moment of my life was when I took part in the international contest “What does the Sustainable development mean for me?” initiated and sponsored by Education First company. It has been always for me to have steadfast confidence, strong oratory skills. Therefore, I have always enhanced those above-mentioned skills. Owing to my aspiration to make favourable contribution and my dedication to Sustainable Development goals, I was granted 1st place and opportunity to attend the Youth conference in New York.”
