Houyem Ghediri is from Tunisia. A university student majoring in Business Administration in the Higher Institute of Accounting and Business Administration in Tunis. In 2019, Houyem was a recipient of the prestigious Thomas Jefferson Scholarship through the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs to study one academic year as an exchange student in the University of Central Missouri majoring in Political Science.
Houyem is passionate about cultures and learning languages, so during her exchange year, she was a cultural ambassador to the United States and promoted the Tunisian culture in her host community and engaged with many other domestic and international student.
Despite being a business major student, she is very interested in international relations and being a global citizen. Her internship in the US in the Johnson County Courthouse with the election commission allowed her to learn about, American elections and how presidents and state officials get elected. Houyem also participated in various events that are related to her interests like being a delegate in a Model United Nations conference and volunteering with different organizations to help needy people and connecting with youth from all over the world to promote and appreciate the cultural differences and build understanding and peace between nations.
