I am Hamida Eliacy, an Afghan girl with the dream of peace and social justice. I am 17 years old and an 11th-grade student. Due to the Taliban regime banning girls from going to school I am covering most of my school materials and activities online. I am a supportive and social person who is trying to use every single opportunity for the benefit of her community and world. I am a human right and peace activist and I have done many activities in this regard. In the winter of 2019, I joined Peacebuilders of the Universe. We were 50 youths who had the dream of changing the current situation for youth in our country for the better. We all worked for SDGs and sustainable peace. Since then my interest in joining programs related to peace and SDGs has increased. I believe that every individual is a citizen of the world besides her/his country and we have to work all together to make the world a better place for everyone. I learned about global citizenship from the current Stanford university student Abuzar Royesh through his Global Citizenship course in our school. All these activities encouraged me to found the Afghan Youth Empowerment Camp in 2020. We work for enhancing Afghan youth’s capacity by holding youth empowerment and exchange camps, training, and workshops around the country. Right now we have over 7K followers on Facebook. This program has helped me to learn from others and to share my experience in leadership with them. I am really passionate about participating and holding international programs in order to learn from people from other countries and bring greater changes. GPS helps me to connect with people from other nations and backgrounds who are passionate about bringing changes.
