He was born and raised in rural South Sudan. His father, Diang Tot was a farmer, and a civil servant, and his mother Christian laity. He was born in an environment full of challenges; one of which was illiteracy. He comes from very humble teaching. None of his parents had any formal education. He knew his parents could not afford college and he knew nothing about financial aid. Still, he felt in his heart that if he worked hard in school, he would find a way to make his dream a reality. The value of education is something that he understood at a very young age. Without formal education, his parents faced many struggles in their personal and professional lives. My inspiration for this program is beyond my capacity as I want to be a peace mediator in my community.
