My name is Celine Arslane and I am an 19 years old student in psychology and history, international relations. Since I was in high school, I wanted somehow to change the world, make our community better because I didn’t want to leave my country and my friends to start a new life somewhere else. Therefore, I started making some changes on a small scale. I co-founded EarthWise Lebanon: a high school club that raises awareness about environmental topics such as biodiversity, waste management and water. We also implemented in our school a new recycling system since we have noticed that the previous one wasn’t efficient. Moreover, I was Aquascope’s ambassador in Lebanon: a student association for environment based in the USA. For 8 years, I volunteered at the scout association. We had this day, on every Christmas break, where we used to choose an NGO and help the people they were targeting. I also started to volunteer in an NGO called “Ana Khayyak” that helps children that live in a violent and abusif household. Furthermore, I was and still am an intern at United Nations Global Compact Network Lebanon and I am helping them in a new program they implemented “SDG Brain Lab”. This program raises awareness about SDGs and encourages young college students to implement the 17 goals in entrepreneurship. I, personally, am working on a social entreprise, Learnable, that targets mental health and education among the youth since inequalities in the learning system have increased and the citizens’ mental health is deteriorating since 2019, the beginning of the Lebanese revolution and crisis. Finally, it is not a coincidence that I chose psychology as my major. This field was a huge part of my life since I was 9 years old. I always was triggered and frustrated by violence for some reason or because I was myself victim of aggressiveness. Ever since, I am deepening my knowledge on this topic from a psychological point of view because, I believe that we will never reach community and society peace if the citizens are not at peace with themselves.
