Hello, My Name is Tess MacLachlan. I am a 21 year old student, studying international relations and social policy at University College Dublin. I intend to do a Masters degree in peace negotiations and conflict. I am passionate about ending climate injustices and the conflicts that arise because of them. I think the most effective way to do this is by building a strong global community, in which we can collectively address global problems, such as climate change, marginalisation and income inequality. I believe we as a global community need to work together to ensure all our citizens have equal access and opportunity to fulfil their full potential in a safe and progressive environment. I have volunteered around the world on different community based projects and I feel that many of the problems that people encounter – whether internationally or in Ireland – are concerned with identity, how people are positioned by others, and their fair access to resources and opportunities. These may play out in different ways in different countries, but the basis of conflicts are often quite similar.
