My name is Reuben Sapetulu, I am 24 years of old. I live in Kalulushi on the Copperbelt province of Zambia. But am currently Pursuing my Bachelor Degree in Sociology of Education with Civic Education at the University of Zambia in Lusaka, Lusaka Province of Zambia.
I am currently Servicing as the President for the University of Zambia Youths of the United Nations Association UNZA-YUNA as well as the Founder/Board Chairperson of the Rethink Youth Platform (RYP) a Non Profit Non Organisation that we formed with the Vision to promote and allow young people to be drivers of sustainable development. I am also a Peace Ambassador under the International Peace Youth Group IPYG under HWPL.
My Vision is not really complicated but just based on a clear development of young people. Making them be the ones at the Centre meaning everything that they need to know and have in order to make them fully equipped to avail their abilities and capabilities, we do promote and advocate for that.
At the Beginning of the year of 2019, we decided to go to Kalulushi District where we called all the secondary school Headteachers and link teachers to revamp school councils as a way to promote Child Governance in schools and community level. Having a background of School Council leader as President at the District level, caused me to learn alot of things which have also contributed to the equipment of my leadership skills.
I therefore stood and still stand to advocate for more spaces for young people to be exposed to civic issues and activities that will make them be aware of their rights and their role in the society. Programs that will make them survive even without reaching tertiary level. Programs that will make them be equipped in all areas making them stand to contribute positively to solving the global problems that the world faces. Making them realize that they are not tools of violence used by politicians but potential leaders who have to live responsibly and protect the planet with a contextual mind of seeing the future safe and sound.
