Polina Buikina grew up in the capital of Russia, in Moscow. In 2015 she graduated with honors and started her international journey – she went to Germany for an exchange program for an entire year. In Germany Polina’s personality opened from a new perspective. She had a completely different life than in Russia – she lived in a host family, had a host brother and sister, spoke a language that she did not know before and adopted to the German culture. At that time she got to know a lot of people from different countries and understood that cultural differences really play an important role in communication. At the same time she was fascinated by how people in Europe carry about nature, mental health and peace. When Polina came back to Russia she started her Bachelor studies at the faculty of Business and Management. During her Bachelor Polina studied cross-cultural communications and published an article together with her colleagues in one of the research journals. She volunteered a lot during these 4 years: she was a volunteer for the FIFA World Cup, Northern Dialog, ART-Werk, UN PRME Conference and many others. She joined the student organization “oikos Moscow” – one of the leading student organizations regarding the topic of sustainable business in Russia, part of “oikos International”. Later she became a vice-president of it and held different events dedicated to the topic of sustainability. Now Polina continues her journey with her volunteer projects, works part-time and continues her studies at the Higher School of Economics in Moscow. She likes to gain new knowledge and skills, get to know new people and develop herself as a person and a professional.
