Youth activist based in Mogadishu, Somalia, grew up and studied at London, England but returned home to Somalia after 21 years away when the Federal Government of Somalia was formed on 2012 to participate in the rebuilding of my beloved nation. Executive Director of Dhaqan Wanaag Institute for Leadership,, a youth organization based in Somalia.
I’ve implemented and finalized many projects including our UNDP funded YOUTH4CHANGE project where we had a centre to teach youths with militia activities key skills. I’ve had the privileges of speaking on stage for Somali youth at the UNDP Youth Strategy Launch in Tunis, Tunisia. Participated in the UN Arab Regional Youth Consultative Forum in Amman, Jordan and many other youth conferences. I’ve also had the pleasure of participating in Visualize 2030 UNDP/Arab Development Portal event in Beirut, Lebanon.
A keen writer, I run my own personal blog on www.mogatribunal.blogspot.com – a blog dedicated to Somali Diaspora youth who are only now heading home to Somalia for the first time or after many years away. I’ve had many readers thanking me for the blog as it has provided them with a head start on what to expect when travelling to Somalia. I also love culture and history and have participated in many cultural events in Africa.
I’ve also a member of the Arab Youth Sustainable Development Network as a Country Representative for Somalia.
I believe in contribution and if this means contributing my skills and experience to my fellow youths in Somalia who were very unfortunate to grow up in civil war, then I can rest knowing history will be on my side.
