Jonathan Lara Arevalo, born in Tegucigalpa in 1995, is a nutritionist with a focus on Public Health Nutrition currently working as the country Nutritionist and Protection Focal Point in the United Nations’ World Food Programme (WFP) country office in Honduras. Recognized as an Agent of Change and Life Example by the National Youth Institute of Honduras in 2018, Jonathan is a prominent nutritionist who has experience in the design, implementation and evaluation of nutrition programs in the most vulnerable communities of the country ensuring Accountability to Affected Populations.
He oversees the nutritional and protection components of four countrywide WFP programmes: National School Feeding Programme, Nutritional Attention to Vulnerable Groups, Climate Change Resilience and Adaptation, and the Emergency Response programme. At his young age, Jonathan is committed to assure the right to food to the most food insecure households in the country. He is currently working in the humanitarian response to the COVID-19 emergency in which he has delivered technical assistance to the Honduran Government in the food assistance programme.
As a result of his work, leadership and dedication, the registered nutritionists elected him to the Executive Board of the Nutritionist Association of Honduras in 2019. He is also a member of ‘Asociación Despierta Honduras’, a non-profit organization currently engaged with youth empowerment in democracy and civic engagement areas.
