Brendon Chakara is an equities dealer for a leading non-bank financial services group that has
earned international acclaim for its expertise in asset management, investment banking and
fiduciary and administration services. In his current role, Brendon specializes in pension funds.
Dedicated to continuous personal and professional development, he is currently enrolled in the
CFA programme (CFA Level III candidate) and the Microsoft Professional Program in Data
Science.
Brendon hopes to discover new knowledge for understanding and theorising the economy. He
prioritises creativity and critical thinking and, without being naïve about the obstacles to the
automation of markets in a post-colonial, neoliberal world, he is positive that this will improve
governance thereby resulting in poverty alleviation in Africa.
Driven by a passion for human capital development, Brendon mentors high school students
through the My Career Mentorship Program that he co-founded with two other colleagues. The
program is designed to bring together, business experts and high school students considering
majors and careers in business, in a formal professional mentor/mentee relationship. In 2017,
Brendon led a team that successfully organized the “Donate a blanket” campaign in Harare,
Zimbabwe. When he is not focused on work, school or giving back to society, Brendon loves to
travel and create new memories.
